*** A taxpayer is entitled to a Homestead exemption on their principle/primary residence.   Effective September 1, 2013 the law has changed and requires that you attach a copy of your driver’s license or state-issued personal identification certificate as documentation along with the Homestead Exemption Application.  The address listed on your driver’s license or state-issued personal identification certificate must correspond to the address of the property for which an exemption is claimed.  In certain cases, you may be exempt from these requirements or the chief appraiser may waive the requirement.  Please see the Homestead Exemption Application for further information.

Definitions of Agricultural Land Section 23.51

SENATE BILL 771 ~Section 23.522

SB 771 adds this section to permit temporary cessation of agricultural use during drought. Qualified open-space land does not become ineligible for the special appraisal when a drought declared by the governor has created the necessity to cease agricultural use for longer than the normal time and when the owner intends to return the land to agricultural use to the degree of intensity that is typical in the area when the drought ends. Effective Jan. 1, 2010
